Preorder FAQ

What is a preorder?

A “preorder” allows you to place a reservation for a product prior to its scheduled release date. Products in a pre-order status are titled as such.

How to preorder?

To reserve a preorder, simply add it to your shopping cart and proceed with checkout. You will be required to pay for your preorder at checkout. After placing your order, you will receive an e-mail confirmation containing an order reference number. If you don't receive this e-mail within 24 hours, please contact us at chelmsford.manager@geek-retreat.com with your proof of purchase.

When will I be charged?

You will be charged immediately upon checkout. Please be aware that if you proceed through checkout, only for the item to go out of stock mid-way through, your bank may hold the funds in pre-authorization stage. Please be assured that any incomplete preorders will not be charged, but it may take several hours for your bank to release the aforementioned pre-authorized funds back to you. This is standard procedure with most banks and is not affected by us.

When will I receive my preorder/when will I be able to collect it?

Generally, preordered items are dispatched 1-2 days after their release date. We endeavour to get all preordered items out at the earliest convenience. All mailed items are delivered by Royal Mail and as such, may be delayed due to a number of factors, including but not limited to; missed attempted delivery, busy periods, inclement weather, strike, incorrect address or credit card information, or other unforeseen circumstance outside of our control.

Preordered items are available for collection on the day of release in line with our opening times.

What happens if a preorder release date changes?

Pre-order release dates we list on our site are based on information we receive from suppliers or manufacturers and could be subject to change.  If the scheduled release date of an item that you have pre-ordered changes, or if the release is canceled all together, we will notify you via the email address on file.

Will I be notified when my preorder ships/is ready for collection?

Yes. If you have not received an e-mail within 24 hours of the proposed release date, please contact us at chelmsford.manager@geek-retreat.com 

Can I cancel my preorder?

Yes. All refunds incur a non-refundable processing fee of 3%, including preorders and event tickets. If you wish to cancel or amend your order, please contact us at chelmsford.manager@geek-retreat.com

Can I change my shipping address?

Will there be any preorder bonuses available?

Sometimes, manufacturers and suppliers provide preorder bonuses such as promotional cards. We will include these with orders where possible, according to guidelines and while stocks last.

Why are there quantity limits on certain preorder items?

Quantity limits are put in place to try and make sure that everybody has access to sought-after items. Individual quantity limits may apply and will be listed in the item description. Any purchases that purposefully exceed these limitations will be immediately cancelled and refunded, and will incur the non-refundable processing fee of 3%.

I missed the preorder window! Will I be able to get my item(s) on release day?

This will vary by product, but we generally 'hold back' a portion of the items for release day in-store. If you have missed a preorder window, please contact us at chelmsford.manager@geek-retreat.com and we'll try our best to work our magic, or let you know the best date/time to get the items in-store!
